Over a Century on the Sound

In 1888 a group of sailing enthusiasts understandably were taken by the beauty of Horseshoe Harbor and formed the Horseshoe Harbor Club. Then as now, Horseshoe Harbor, in the heart Larchmont's Manor Park, was one of the most beautiful spots on Long Island Sound.  Today, we’re known as Horseshoe Harbor Yacht Club, and our mission still is to promote sailing and to offer those who love the water easy access to the L.I. Sound.

For the sailor, it’s more than just a convenient place to moor your boat with daily launch service; our informal sailing camaraderie extends to both long and short planned cruises as well as participation in the local “Can 1 Races” and other racing series.  Our Junior Sailing and Adult Learn-to-Sail programs allow novice sailors to gain experience and experienced sailors to learn new skills and refine their existing skills.

HHYC also offers kayak memberships that include boat storage in racks under the Clubhouse and convenient launching from our kayak float or beach.  It’s a great starting place to explore the Larchmont shoreline and the many coves and islands on Long Island Sound.  We also plan kayaking workshops and paddling excursions.

The social program at HHYC ranges from informal get-togethers, such as our highly popular Thursday evening cookouts, to champagne brunches. Many members enjoy our porch for cocktails, barbecuing or simply sitting on a rocking chair to relax and take in the magnificent scenery.

Members are free to relax in the clubhouse or on the porch, and to bring or prepare drinks and meals. For large private functions, members in good standing can rent the Clubhouse.
